Mary – Milwaukee Portrait Photography Studio

I was so happy when I heard from Mary, and she told me she was looking to mark this time in her life with some beautiful portraits. I photographed her wedding a handful of years ago, and it was so wonderful to have her in the studio! Mary has a very unique story as to why she wanted to be photographed, so now I am going to let her tell it.

“My husband and I were lucky enough to have Jennifer photograph our wedding 4 years ago. As someone who has worked as a non-profit admin in the arts for the last decade, I admired Jennifer’s work and professionalism from the minute I met her!

A few months ago, when announced she was shifting her photography to portraits, I watched her video “Are you afraid of the camera?” and felt inspired to have some portraits done. You see, I had just gone through a long process of having a prophylactic mastectomy and reconstruction and some photos to mark the conclusion of a really challenging time seemed like the perfect thing to plan during my birthday week.

Jennifer was so great to work with again, she knows all the tips and tricks to bring out everyone’s best angles and make you feel comfortable behind the camera. This day was so different from my more candid wedding photo experience, Jennifer really curates each shot–pins, tucks, angles, adjusts hair, adjusts hair again–just to get the perfect photo composition. Because I wanted some family portraits to mark the occasion as well, she brought in dog handler, Whitney, to wrangle all three of my dogs. It was so great to not have to worry about them so I could focus on enjoying the day.

Jennifer was able to capture all sides of me during my session in a cohesive collection: a crazy dog lady, a wife of a super-freaking-supportive husband, a non-profit professional, and a breast cancer “previvor.” All of the photos came matted and in the most lux folio box. Overall I loved my experience with Jennifer and feel grateful to have a beautiful collection of images to look back on.” ~Mary
