“It feels like Jennifer and I have grown up together. We met what feels like a lifetime ago, back when she was probably one of the best wedding photographers around. Jennifer has since photographed me to mark important milestones in my life: our engagement and wedding, and when she shifted to portraiture, she photographed my maternity portraits.
Since then, many friends and friends of friends have gotten their portraits taken by Jennifer. They were all celebrating their various milestones. As my own next milestone approached, I realized that I wanted a set of photos to celebrate me. Just me. My previous sets had been to celebrate marriage and becoming a mother, for sure great things. But this time I wanted to celebrate me, turning 40!
This was not my first time having Jennifer take my photos, but upon arrival on shoot day I was nervous. Was I going to look the way I wanted? How would my wardrobe selections actually look? Would these photos live up to my expectations of my previous experiences? Was it too much to celebrate myself in this way? Of course Jennifer immediately put me at ease, and Katrina highlighted my best features with hair and makeup. The shoot day flew by, and I felt amazing and confident hopping from one glamorous look to the next. Jennifer ensured that I posed to highlight my favorite features, and her laid-back professionalism behind the camera brought out my best expressions in front of the camera.
I was nervous again walking into reveal day, but I immediately realized Jennifer did it yet again. She captured exactly what I wanted, and it was all but impossible to narrow down the images I loved the most. I am forever grateful to be able to have these images of myself, to celebrate myself, thanks to Jennifer.
