IDENTITY | STYLED

A celebration of culture through a contemporary lens

This project began with a simple question:
What happens when women bring their heritage into the studio — not for tradition’s sake, but to express who they are today?

IDENTITY | STYLED is a portrait series honoring women with deep cultural roots who are living modern lives. Each of them stepped in front of the camera in garments that hold memory, meaning, and story — and each gave voice to what that heritage means to her now.

These portraits are about more than beauty.
They’re about pride, complexity, resistance, and visibility.

I’m honored to share these images and stories with you — one at a time, with care.

Kelly

“I dance for silenced voices and for those who fought to reclaim our right to be. Every step bridges past and present, weaving healing through rhythm and song.”

Nidhi

“My ancestors have left behind a legacy of strength, adaptability, and love.”

Audra

“I feel so powerful when I dance in my regalia. I feel the beat of the drum in my heart and my soul.”

Desiree

“I feel absolutely the most beautiful when I wear my regalia. I feel confident, proud, and feminine.”

Chiến Binh

“An Áo dài to me personally is being able to reclaim culture and wear something that helps me feel connected to something that was taken from me.”

Margaret

““These garments are a literal thread to my heritage — to my mother, to my family, to the country I’m proud to be a dual citizen of.””

Kerensa

“Each costume is an extension of the body. It takes years of practice to move with the bata de cola. Now, I honor every moment I bring one of these beautiful dresses to life.”

Sangeeta

“A sari is an iconic symbol of Indian culture and national pride. One garment can be worn by a 20-year-old or a 90-year-old, passed down through generations, and still be at the height of fashion.”

Odonchimeg

“Clothing isn’t just clothing. These garments are a living connection to my roots, my ancestors, and the rich stories of my culture.”

Noor

“Wearing Palestinian representation, in any form, is a protest and a statement of survival.”
