Meet Skip Talbot: Pioneering Storm Chaser and Educator
Introducing Skip Talbot, a central Illinois-based storm chaser renowned for his dedication to enhancing the safety and education of the storm chasing community. Since beginning his journey in 2003, Skip has become a respected figure in documenting supercells and tornadoes across the Great Plains and Midwest. His educational content, praised as some of the best globally, provides invaluable insights into storm structure and chase safety, helping to elevate the practices of fellow chasers everywhere.
Skip’s commitment to advancing atmospheric science extends beyond the field. He has significantly contributed to the El Reno Survey, the largest crowd-sourced study on a tornado in history, developing software and co-authoring key publications. He has been partnering with Dr. Anton Seimon and a small team for the last seven years in the field in attempt to studio tornadoes through photogrammetry. Additionally, Skip’s passion for weather and climate studies has taken him to Africa with Dr. Seimon to install weather stations, further showcasing his dedication to global environmental issues.
